Southern Dusty Blue Wedding at the Riverbanks Zoo

Shannon and Ian met at Winthrop University when Shannon’s sorority sisters invited her over to the Pi Kappa Phi house. When they arrived, Ian was one of the first people Shannon met. Ian was living at the house at the time and Shannon remembers thinking how she wanted to get to know him better. Sure enough, Ian invited her to a party a week later, and in Shannon’s own words, “that evening is what really set everything into motion and we’ve been together ever since.”

A few years later, on a trip to Disney World, Ian asked Shannon to go on a walk on the boardwalk. They stopped on the bridge and that’s where Ian asked her if she wanted her birthday present one day early. Shannon said yes, and so Ian told her to close her eyes. He placed a small box in her hands and had her turn around. She couldn’t open it until he said so.

Shannon kept feeling the box in her hand. It was way too flat to be a ring box. What could it be?

Finally, Ian told her she could open it, and so she did. Inside, she found a small pin of Mickey and Minnie Mouse standing at the alter. That could only mean one thing. Shannon gasped and turned around and saw Ian down on one knee, a glass slipper in his hands, a ring in the center. Cinderella was her favorite movie, and Ian was her favorite person.

A little over a year later, they finally tied the knot at the Riverbanks Zoo, right by the flamingos, with a Mickey and Minnie significantly placed on their wedding cake.

The entire day was filled with absolute love and everything came together perfectly.
