Rainy Day Engagement Session at Rankin Lake Park

From the second I met Jenson and Jordan, I knew I had to be their photographer. I just LOVED them. They are so bubbly and just FUN to be around. That was so evident during their engagement because Jenson just couldn’t stop giggling… and I loved it!!

We shot their engagement session at Rankin Lake Park in Gastonia, NC which isn’t too far from Charlotte. We had to reschedule once due to rain and on the morning of their session, there was a 0% chance of rain… until we got there. The second we parked, it started POURING. Like, a hardcore storm! So we waited… after 30 minutes, it slowed to a barely noticeable drizzle and we decided to go for it. I pulled out my clear umbrella and we began shooting!

We thought that was it for the rain… until they changed into their second outfit and we walked far to the other side of the lake. Just as we got there, we got hit with another rainstorm. Except this time, there was nowhere to run for shelter! I shoved my gear into my bag, pulled out all the umbrellas, and we waited right in the middle of the rain wondering where on EARTH this storm had come from. Once it finished, I was soaked and they were soaked from the bottom down (thankfully bubble umbrellas are great for saving the face/hair). We finished the session and got some DREAMY pastel sunset images.

Due to the unexpected rain, I offered them a DRY mini-session redo in their second outfit so you will be seeing them on blog again in their near future! For now, enjoy Jenson and Jordan’s surprise rainy engagement session!
